How to Play Pokémon Battle Academy Top Trumps

Objective

Battle against your opponent by strategically choosing Pokémon stats to win the most rounds! Score points by selecting the stat where your Pokémon outperforms your opponent's Pokémon.

Game Setup

1. Click the start button on the game screen to begin.
2. Two random Pokémon will be selected - one for you (Pokémon Trainer) and one for your opponent
3. Your Pokémon card will flip to reveal its stats, while your opponent's card remains hidden

How to Play

Starting a Round

• Your Pokémon card will be revealed, showing all its stats
• Your opponent's Pokémon remains face-down (hidden)
• You must choose which stat you think will beat your opponent's Pokémon

Making Your Move

1. Study Your Pokémon's Stats: Look at your Pokémon six stats:
   • ID: Pokémon's unique identification number
   • Speed: How fast the Pokémon moves
   • Attack: Physical attacking power
   • Defense: Ability to resist physical attacks
   • Height: Pokémon's height in decimetres
   • Weight: Pokémon's weight in hectograms
2. Choose Your Best Stat: Click on the stat button you believe has the highest chance of beating your opponent
   • Choose strategically - pick your Pokémon's strongest stats
   • Remember: higher numbers usually win!
3. Reveal and Compare: After selecting your stat:
   • Your opponent's Pokémon card will flip and reveal their stats
   • The chosen stats will be compared automatically

Scoring System

• Win a Round: Your chosen stat is higher than your opponent's → You get 1 point
• Lose a Round: Your opponent's stat is higher → Opponent gets 1 point
• Draw: Both stats are equal → No points awarded

Continuing the Game

• Click Next Round to play another round with new Pokémon
• Your scores carry over between rounds
• Keep playing to see who can achieve the highest score!

Strategic Thinking

1. Know Your Pokémon: Recognize the Pokémon on your card and think about what they're known for
2. Risk vs Reward: Sometimes a moderate stat that's likely to win is better than gambling on an extreme stat
3. Learn from Previous Rounds: Notice patterns in the types of Pokémon that appear
